The ice cream bar La Cigale has just opened at 8 rue de la République in Marseille, not far from the old port. At the forefront we find a duo formed by Rachel Perrin and Alex Sanchez.
La Marseillaise whispers: “we have known each other since we were born. Our parents grew up in the same town in Avignon and our two fathers are merchants. »
“I’ve been bathing in ice since I was little”
They are what motivated them to open their own business. In this case, a glacier. Rather, it was a choice logic.
“I have been swimming in ice since I was little. My family has an ice cream parlor. I’ve been working in it since I was 15, says Alex Sanchez. So after his BTS in technical sales in wine, he decided to return to his first love, ice cream.
“We were lucky to find this shop”
Once this decision was made, the two friends looked for premises in Marseille, Alex grew up in Pennes-Mirabeau and Rachel in Marseille.
“We were lucky to find this shop. There is a lot of traffic in the old port and this is one symbol of Marseille“, the young woman laughs and admits “a little chauvinistic side”.
Provencal perfumes
In their lavender and sunny yellow shop, blink to Provence“Alex is with coal, with our employee Olivier. We are also looking for a part-time person,” confides the actress.
The duo serves waffles, pancakes, but above all one fifty perfumes different ice creams.
It is very typical Provencal.
“The perfume that Alex’s family sells the most is lavender honey. We also have a fig-honey-lavender fragrance,” explains the actress.
Thanks to Alex’s knowledge, they had no problems finding a good supplier.
” It is a master ice cream maker, which is located in the region, in Six-Fours-les-Plages. We buy quality ice cream,” continues the young man. Rachel Perrin adds: “and we do be aware of the crowd. We want people to get value for money. »
