Massive recall in France, this favorite food of children suspected of being contaminated with Listeria!

The government, via its risk product alert site, published a recall sheet on June 17. In this announcement, it is announced that a very popular food product could be contaminated with Listeria. Sold in supermarkets, this product is a favorite with children.

Reminders call for vigilance

Product recalls require us to be vigilant when it comes to food. Shopping is one of the routine activities of everyone. This apparently mundane activity is apparently not so mundane.

Indeed, the food products that we are used to buying can involve health risks. Caution should therefore be exercised. Most cases only involve secondary risks. But there are also more serious risks of contamination, hence the need for a recall.

Other food products have already been recalled

In some cases, the consumption of the products affected by these recalls can have tragic consequences as has happened before. These include the scandal that affected the frozen pizzas of the Buitoni brand. There was also the recall of Kinder chocolates manufactured by Ferrero. It should be remembered that these chocolates were contaminated with salmonella.

Families, especially children, loved these products. It was without counting on the risks that it represented on health, even at reduced consumption. Just recently, another benchmark product was recalled. In large areas, this product is for children, the favorite. Now, it is forbidden to consume it.

Chichis of chicken are contaminated with Listeria

This time, it is the Chichis of chicken of the brand Le Gaulois which are the subject of a recall. Apparently it’s due to listeria contamination. These poultry meat baguettes can be found in supermarkets, in the fresh section. They are sold there in a 200 g kit.

Sales began on May 14, 2022 throughout France. Many well-known brands took part in the distribution. These include Carrefour, Cora, Leclerc, System U, Auchan, Casino, Franprix and Intermarché. Customers of these brands are advised to be careful if they have purchased this product.

The official government announcement

The expiry date of this product was June 8th. The recall announcement came nearly 10 days later. June 17, 2022 to be more precise. The government issued the recall via its Hazardous Product Alert site. It is often on this site that the government makes an inventory of official product recalls.

It contains all the information related to the recalled products. You can also find details about the bacteria that you could contract through food.

Symptoms to consider

It is stipulated in the recall that the Chichis of chicken of the brand Le Gaulois are strictly prohibited for consumption. For those who have already consumed it, no need to panic. You just have to be vigilant for a few symptoms such as fever. The latter may be accompanied by headaches or body aches. Although the consequences are rare, they can however be serious in pregnant women.

Things to do in case of consumption of the product

According to the authorities, customers who purchased this product can return it to the store where they purchased it. They will therefore be reimbursed. If you have already consumed the product, you should consult your doctor. This must be done as quickly as possible.

In particular, as soon as the aforementioned symptoms are noticed. You can reach the consumer service of the Gaulois brand on 0243626415. This service is available for those who want to be informed. He can be reached from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A little information on Listeria

Listeria is a bacterium. It is found in nature and in the digestive tract of animals. It causes listeriosis which is a serious disease. Food contaminated with Listeria cannot be seen with the naked eye. Indeed, there is no change in its appearance. The taste and smell also remain the same. That said, the food product looks healthy.

You should also know that the microbial agent has a high resistance to cold. It can therefore survive in a freezer. Note, however, that it takes a large dose of the bacteria to be sick. Ingestion of the bacteria therefore does not necessarily lead to listeriosis.
