The Djerba authorities have the roads repaired, the palm trees pruned… And also have the stray dogs killed
Even THOSE STERILIZED AND VACCINATED!
The stray dogs called “ARBI” magnificent mountain dogs, are the subject, in Tunisia, of barbaric acts and shootings by the police. Considered pests, no one in this country wants to make the slightest effort to stop these shootings orchestrated by the authorities.
While multiple associations denounce them and propose vaccination and sterilization which would regulate this multiplication of dogs, often the fruit of wild abandonments.
THE CHILDREN WITNESSES TO THIS OPEN-AIR MASSACRE!
Despite warnings from UNICEF!
The police continue and shoot the dogs IN FRONT of the children who cannot rebel under pain of sanctions.
A growing number of tourists no longer come to DJERBA, revolted to witness these barbaric practices, to hear gunshots then the howling of dogs followed by moans. They often leave them to agonize for hours on the sidewalks. While they presented no danger or aggressiveness!
What do the mayors of Djerba blame them for? Being alive when they could effectively avoid this proliferation by sterilization and vaccination.
As long as the municipalities do not move towards responsible and ethical solutions for their animals, it is unthinkable to imagine that we can close our eyes to these massacres without denouncing them!
The 18th Francophonie Summit in TUNISIA sheds light on these practices of another time.
