Nigerian Armed Forces: 862 soldiers from 10th Nigerian Battalion (NERBAT) ready to serve MINUSMA

The Ouallam camp hosted this Friday, November 25, 2022, the solemn ceremony for the completion of the pre-deployment training of 862 soldiers of the 10th Nigerian Battalion (NERBAT) of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) . This ceremony, presided over by Brigadier General Amadou DIDILI, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, marks the end of ten weeks of intense training in peacekeeping operations. During this training, the 862 soldiers who make up the 10th NERBAT followed various training sessions. These include training in international humanitarian law (IHL); soldier skills training; motorized operation drills; specific training against improvised explosive devices and tactical casualty care efforts. Addressing them, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense urged them to show accountability and discipline as their predecessors did before them in overseas missions, “You are now ready to carry out your mission within MINUSMA. Always remember that you are our ambassadors throughout your stay in Mali. As such, you will have to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, selflessness and unfailing discipline. In short, you must always be exemplary. I already know that I can count on you to maintain the solid reputation of the Nigerian contingents that preceded you in the theaters of external operations”.

The ceremony ended with a tour of the rolling stock made available to the battalion for capacity building.
