The opportunity for Fanny Xu, manager of the restaurant with her brother Diéva Cheng, to come back to the secrets of the shooting.

The restaurateur “dreads” seeing herself on television.

When the cameras landed at La Marine on April 4, the film crew “made believe it was for a presentation video”.
At that time, we did not yet know that we were taken for the show. We thought it was some kind of application. And then Chef Etchebest arrived…
The brother and sister could therefore not show him anything other than the reality of their daily lives. “At the base, we called on the show, because we had a very tense relationship between us. In addition, we were losing our customers, and we couldn’t manage our card, which was too big. We didn’t offer fresh products all the time, there were a lot of frozen foods. »
So, when Philippe Etchebest arrived, the Ouistrehamais chef gave him a taste of “frozen spring rolls. He wasn’t very happy… When the chef yells, he yells! He is impressive, but very nice off camera, he has a good background, ”recalls Fanny Xu.
The follow-up to the show
For a week, the establishment had to close to carry out renovations, as the members of the show’s team usually do. Since then, La Marine has had a new decor. “Even if there are fewer seats, it’s more spacious and clearer. »
In addition, “we are followed by someone for six months, at the expense of the show. This person helps us revise our map. »
For example, we learned the recipe for frozen nougat, and we now add celery to the molds to give it flavor.
The brother and sister seem to have listened to the advice of Philippe Etchebest, and no longer serve “frozen foods. Now, for the fish and chips, we take fresh cod! »
