The puppy show took place last weekend at the Parc Expo in Mulhouse.
“There you go, it didn’t miss!” This is exactly the scenario that the Mulhouse SPA feared. The shelter recorded its first abandonment, the day after the Puppy Show which was held last weekend.
“Turbulent”, “untenable”
A three-month-old bichon frize bought last Sunday was abandoned the next day. “What did this puppy commit as fault(s)?” Asks the SPA of Mulhouse, on Facebook. According to the latter, two people came to drop off the puppy claiming a small dog “turbulent, untenable in the evening” which “disturbs”.
Last week, the SPA and the town hall of Mulhouse were opposed to the holding of this puppy show which, according to them, would encourage this type of behavior.
“A puppy is not a commodity to be bought, but an animal to be adopted!” recalled Michèle Lutz, the mayor of Mulhouse, in a press release published Tuesday, September 20, with the SPA of Mulhouse.
For its part, the Mulhouse SPA drew up a worrying report of animal abandonments during the summer of 2022. The city specifies that 131 puppies and 139 cats were collected between June 1 and September 15.
