Located at Place de la République 1, ego has filled the corner of the famous Perpignan esplanade since April 15, 2024. This new ice cream parlor stands out by offering self-serve artisanal ice cream. Here, fans wander around and let themselves be guided when they want to make their own ice cream.
74 flavors of artisanal ice cream
Cone or pot, ice cream or sorbet, whipped cream or coulis, the consumer puts together his dish as he wishes, and it is the weight of his creation that determines the price once at the checkout. At Ego, the only constant is the price, 4.20 euros for 100 g.
A la carte, approx 74 flavors which “rotates according to the season” explains Romain, the manager. A host of perfumes that aim to “satisfy as many people as possible while offering perfumes that are off the beaten path” according to the original Parisian.
Sheep, citrus cactus, strawberry-basil or even honey-lavender are flavors currently available. The Ego ice cream bar also offers a vegan selectionwithin these products, which come from three artisanal ice cream makers from Avignon, Lattes and Fréjus.
A refreshing project
The world of ice cream and sorbet is completely new to Romain. Former bank director, he left his sector of activity to start the Ego adventure, which includes another ice cream parlor in Marseille, together with his wife Ania: “I had wanted to be independent for years and my wife wanted to open a tea room, so we seize the chance.”
An easy decision to make for those attached Catalan country since his childhood. “My grandparents lived in Argelès-sur-Mer, so I spent all my holidays in the department and I made a lot of friends in the area,” adds the man, who now lives in Villelongue-Dels-Monts.
Ice cream … but not only that
