Nearly 3 weeks after a fire that completely devastated it, the Ipanéma Café, restaurant-bar at the Hermitage, suffered a burglary. Indeed, this Saturday, July 30, the construction site of the establishment in full reconstruction was robbed.
A heinous act
Awakened by the barking of his dogs, Yvan Hoarau, owner and manager of Ipanéma Café, explains: “At first when I heard the dogs, I just thought it was a person passing in the street. I still peeked outside and that’s when I saw my dogs running towards something. I followed them and then I surprised two individuals who stole my tools with which I work to put together the restaurant which was burnt down some time ago“.
He keeps on : “One of the two people fled. I managed to control the second and I called the gendarmes who came to recover it. The other person is currently wanted. My 3 year old child is a little traumatized by the thieves and my daughter who is on vacation had trouble sleeping, as soon as she hears the dogs barking she is afraid. I am disgusted by his individuals. They broke through my padlocked gate, and stole my tools. For the moment a box has been found on an individual by the gendarmes. I think it’s stupidity, they were surely alcoholic. With the fire and this burglary, we will remember this month of July“, he concludes.
