The SPA launches its new awareness campaign against abandonment with a moving spot. The film highlights the reasons that lead us to love our animals and the huge void they leave in our lives when they are no longer there.
Often it is when we lose a loved one that we realize their true value and importance. Including when this being is a pet, a member of the family in its own right. This is the message carried by Reasons to love him », new film through which the SPA launches its awareness campaign against abandonment.
A scourge that starts again every year in this period when mass departures on vacation are being prepared. Within the SPA, we expect a particularly difficult 2022 summer season for 2 reasons: the drop in adoptions observed at the start of the year, with more than 7,000 animals waiting in the association’s 63 shelters, as well as the lifting of restrictions linked to the health crisis, heralding record holiday departures.
Managers, volunteers and employees of reception structures therefore fear an unprecedented wave of abandonment, something that nothing should justify given the strength of the bond that exists between man and his pet, recalls the SPA.
” Reasons to love him » follows a family whose father relives the mischief committed by his dog and realizes that, although annoying, it becomes completely insignificant once the canine is gone.
” You will always be able to look for reasons to abandon it, you will especially find reasons to love it “, we underline in this particularly moving spot.
The reasons that shelter teams hear from owners who have decided to separate themselves from their dogs, cats, rodents and other companions are indeed puzzling: “ he is too old », « he is not clean », « he doesn’t listen to anything », « he’s ugly »…
However, these little “flips” and their clumsiness are nothing when we compare them to all that they can offer us on a daily basis, between love, joy, comfort and loyalty. Unfortunately, we only realize this when they are no longer with us.

In addition to the film which will be broadcast on TV, the SPA’s awareness campaign also includes publications on social networks and in the press, where animals caught in the act of stupidity are staged.
