Since its opening, the establishment has had to adapt constantly. The gourmet sandwich shop started its activity during the second confinement. A difficult start. Their six-seat “Covid” terrace, however, offers them visibility: “We were a small establishment so we needed it,” says manager Tomislav.
However, the possibility of putting a few tables on the terrace was refused to them this year, due to the proximity of the sidewalk to the tram line.
Unsustainable situation
“Then, teleworking hurt us, habits changed and we did not find our customers”, regrets Tomislav Bacic. According to him, the orders were very concentrated at the beginning of the week, “when the fridge is empty after the weekend and you are lazy to cook. It is no longer worth too much now, people prepare their meals to go to work or do not leave their homes if they are teleworking, ”he explains.
A final crisis: inflation: “We decided not to increase the price of our menus so as not to penalize the customer, so our margins have dropped,” explains Tomislav Bacic.
This situation is no longer viable: “All that does not make a good cocktail”, he sums up. The decision to close on July 30 was taken a few weeks ago, “reluctantly”. The premises located at 1 Cours Pasteur opposite the Aquitaine Museum in Bordeaux is currently for sale.
A disappointment for the customers as well as for the managers, who have not said their last word… Until then, new ephemeral sandwiches will be offered on the menu at 65 Degrés approximately every week. A closing evening with tastings and DJ Set will take place on July 30.
