At Grund
The Grund’s restaurant has certainly not yet been emptied, but its sub-tenant – the brewery – is already planning for the future.
A window is open on the back side of the Liquid Bar located in the Grund. Last April, a district court confirmed the judgment handed down in June 2021 and stipulating the obligation for the lessors to evacuate the restaurant located at number 15 rue Münster. If their departure is not yet effective, the sub-tenant – the Luxembourg brewery Mousel-Diekirch – is optimistic.
“We are waiting for the bailiff to allow us to enter. We will then be able to show the bar to interested tenants”, explains Laurent Walthoff, director of the brewery for a few months.
The judgment was rendered on April 26. The brewery then had 40 days to have the judgment served. In this complicated case, the brewery and the operator have been in dispute for years – one of the former operators in particular had disappeared from the scene.
Forced lock
Administrative manager from 2012 to August 2017, Jean-Mathieu Imbert had been ordered by the district court to leave at his expense, within 40 days, the premises closed since September 2019. Jean-Mathieu Imbert has however always maintained that he handed over the keys to the Liquid Bar to the brewery in the fall of 2019. The latter, however, denies this information.
“We are awaiting the return of the keys. This is the role of the judicial officer. This should be done in the weeks to come”, wants to be optimistic Laurent Walthoff. For his part, Jean-Mathieu Imbert did not wish to answer our questions.
If the former tenant(s) are not present, there may be what is known as a “forced eviction”, i.e. the lock is forced open, a new one is installed and the landlord receives the new ones. keys.
