This dog gives birth, the owners are close to panic when they discover the number of puppies

Dogs are one of those animals that give birth to more than one puppy. In fact, they usually give birth to a litter of beautiful babies. In most cases, their number does not exceed 6 to 8 per cold. But this number can vary depending on the breed. For this family dog, the number was such that it caused discomfort.

The dog must give birth

This story took place in Russia. More precisely in the city of Voronezh oblast (Ramon), a little further south of the country. There lived a loving family, accompanied by their dog Kira. The latter belongs to the races Cane Corso or Italian Mastiff, according to breeders.

It all happened in 2019. At that time, the whole family was waiting for happy news. It was actually the dog several months pregnant. Everyone was happy with their situation, happy to see their family grow again. Especially Natalia Mukhomedeeva, the owner of the dog.

Kira, the Cane Corso dog, benefited support from his masters, like most pets. They made sure the dog had everything she needed and wanted. Every member of the family contributed to ensure that her pregnancy went as smoothly as possible.

Like the dog, her owner Natalia Mukhomedeeva couldn’t wait to see her puppies. But one day his expectations ended. One evening, when she came home from work, she got a surprise. She went to see Kira and had the happy discovery that the latter was to give birth.

A surprise that almost caused discomfort

According to Natalia Mukhomedeeva, the whole family was happy to see the arrival of the dog’s first puppy. Later, they witnessed the birth of other canines. They thought Kira would give birth to about 4 puppies. In fact, this breed often has litter of 4 to 5 dogs.

But later they noticed that the work was not finished. The puppies kept coming. Since this was not uncommon, they thought Kira was about to give birth 10 babies. So they went to bed, leaving the dog alone with her babies. But the next day they were stunned.

As soon as she woke up, the owner wanted to make sure the dog was in perfect health. She then looked at her basket and discovered the baby puppies. When she saw that there were many, she began to count them. She started with the first, then the second, until she had more than 10 puppies.

In total, the Cane Corso dog had given birth at 19 puppies, all in good health. Except for the last one who died at birth. According to Natalia Mukhomedeeva: “We thought there would be ten, but we could never have imagined that there would be so many.” The local vet also said that in her 36-year career, she had never seen such a case.

The dog holds the world record

With her 19 puppies, Kira is on the list of dogs with the most litters. At the head a female Maneas Neapolitan Mastiff, Cambridgeshire (UK). She gave birth to 24 puppies. This happened in 2004, and so far no dog has surpassed this record.

A Dogue de Bordeaux dog named Cleo also gave birth to 19 puppies at the Kingman Animal Veterinary Hospital in Arizona. But Kira gave birth to her puppies without outside help. While Cleo had to endure a caesarean section at a veterinary hospital to deliver puppies.
