This Italian address that seduced Liège is moving to Brussels

Scopa, does it matter to you? The address has just arrived in Liège, located in the city center, rue Saint-Paul. This focacciera offers, as the name suggests, a wide selection of focaccias. Considered the Italian version of focaccia, these little savory delights are similar in style and texture to pizza, although they are more of a flat bread, topped with herbs, olives and tomatoes and then baked. This specialty, born in the Liguria region of the Italian Riviera, is now coming to Belgium. It is at 5 rue Jourdan, a stone’s throw from Avenue Louise, that you must go to test this new single product concept.

For even more Italian addresses, here’s Ciccio, the first pain’za address in Brussels:

A foccacia bar

But what does it look like in practice? This “focaccia bar” actually takes the form of an improved sandwich shop, and especially with an Italian sauce. 16 choices of focaccia in total, priced between €8 and €12. There is “Asso” with mortadella, stracciatella and pistachio cream, or “Coppe”, speck, pecorino, zucchini cream. Vegetarian and vegan versions are also on the menu. For gluttons, various supplements can be added: truffle, gorgonzola or artichoke cream, pistachio seeds, provolone… Portions are generous and everything is prepared fresh and homemade. You get there at lunchtime to enjoy a little break there, or you take your lunch with you. However, the shop is closed in the evening.

On the interior design side, we focused on Italian codes, with colorful tiles on the wall, raw wood and authentic butcher accessories, hams and vegetables hanging on hooks act as decoration. What we like is the hot smoke that escapes from the focaccia when we cut it in half, but also the generous amount placed between each slice. We can only advise you to preferably eat sitting down, given the size of the sandwich. While we wait for the address to finally open its doors in Brussels, we enjoy their tempting videos on Instagram.

The address is actually a hit on the networks, which is a bit in contrast to the online reviews that are talking about “lovely and tasty preparations” but also a focaccia that was a little too hard and too dry. At the same time, some mention that we have to queue there, which testifies to the overall success of the address. To be tested to form your own opinion!
