Since April 28, a couple from Toulouse have transformed the garden of their house into a guinguette. Discover this establishment nestled in the Bonnefoy district.
“What if we transformed the garden into a guinguette? This is the somewhat crazy idea that Antoine Gonzalez, 60, and his wife, Catherine Sabathier, had. “By dint of having meals with friends, they ended up convincing me to launch my guinguette”, smiles Antoine Gonzalez. Only at noon, Hush. Guinguette offers 27 seats from Monday to Friday. Since April 28, the couple has therefore transformed the garden of their house located in the Bonnefoy district of Toulouse into a restaurant. “I’ve been a caterer specializing in paella for 17 years, so I already had all the facilities to be able to launch the establishment”, explains the master of the place.
On the menu, dishes that change every day according to the desires of the chef, the owner of the place. Everything is cooked in front of the customers thanks to a brazier. “We offer beef, pork, lamb, but also fish or shellfish… These are only quality, top-of-the-range products”, emphasizes the passionate restaurateur. Catherine Sabatier manages the service and her husband is in the kitchen. “She also managed the decoration of the garden”, slips her companion. On the price side, Hush. Guinguette offers a starter, main course and dessert menu at 35 euros. As for the name chosen for this new guinguette, “we were inspired by the restaurant La lawn forbidden to Minimes, there is also a side, shh, here it is a haven of peace”.
And the secret was not kept for long. Since the opening, this guinguette which wanted to be discreet fills up almost every lunchtime. “We knew it would be a challenge, but we didn’t expect that, especially since I kept my catering activity on the weekends, so our days are very busy,” laughs Antoine Gonzalez. The couple intends to keep the establishment open until the end of the good weather.
