OIt is sometimes nicknamed “Indian saffron”, so much its sunny orange color is reminiscent of the expensive spice. Turmeric is popular in cooking. Its taste qualities are acclaimed throughout the world, alone or associated with coriander, cumin or even black pepper.

The notoriety of turmeric is particularly marked in Indian cuisine where its flavor is added to many traditional dishes based on meat, fish or rice. In India, this spice has also been used for millennia as a dye for textiles, but it is also recognized for its medicinal properties. It was enough for some epidemiologists and pharmacologists to take an interest in it.
