“We are ready to work”: for Lucie Castets, the “immobility” of Matignon has “lasted too long”

For her, “the immobility has lasted too long and no one understands”. Candidate nominated by the New Popular Front (NFP) for Matignon, Lucie Castets says she is ready to “work” before being received in the company of other NFP leaders by Emmanuel Macron this Friday. “We approach the meeting calmly, content to go there with all the forces of the NFP,” she declared in an interview with Libération published on Wednesday. “We want to tell him that we are ready to work, that we are serious and together. We will also insist on the need to move forward. »

Lucie Castets assures that the NFP will demonstrate to the President of the Republic that its measures “will probably create consensus”. “In the issue of public services for example, it is undeniable, also on the right,” she illustrates. “Of course we cannot say today: It will be what we propose and only on our terms. We will have to take action against others, but on the basis of our proposal,” she continued. Regarding her letter sent on August 12 to parliamentarians, in which she said she was ready to “build a majority”, the senior official claims to have received “responses well beyond the NFP”.

A “collective” message

A device, also expelled by the leader of the rebellious deputies Mathilde Panot this Wednesday morning at the microphone of France Inter. “We are working together, we will carry a collective message (…) It is important to remember that there is only one sovereign in this country, the people, and that we must respect the results of the ballot boxes,” she said. The various representatives of the NFP will go together to the Élysée.

Lucie Castets also believes that her camp will be able to “find agreements on [ses] prioritized topics such as repealing the pension reform, purchasing power, working conditions, the issue of public services and ecology. “I find it hard to believe that we will not find consensus on these priority issues for the French. Otherwise, they are (the other political forces) must answer to their constituents. “His first move would be, as announced several times, “the repeal of the pension reform”. She also confirmed her desire to raise the minimum wage to 1,600 euros.

Also asked about her possible cohabitation with the head of state, Lucie Castets says that she sees things “very calmly”. “With discussions between the Prime Minister and the President, as in all cohabitations. I will rely on the constitution and on practice,” she predicts. For her, there is no question of questioning the “special hand” of the President of the Republic on “defense issues and foreign affairs”.
