Who Is Mallory Book, She-Hulk’s New Lawyer In Episode 5?

In She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode 5, Jen Walters is represented by badass new lawyer Mallory Book against Titania’s frivolous lawsuit. She is Jen’s co-worker in GLK and H and is also part of the Superhuman Law Division. Mallory is a tall lawyer with a serious demeanor who doesn’t give a damn about anyone. She helps She-Hulk win the case by counter suing Titania and getting the motion for summary judgment. Mallory Book is played by Renée Elise Goldsberry who is also awesome. Fans already love her and Twitterati can’t stop talking about her. So who exactly is Mallory Book from Marvel Comics? And what role will she play in future episodes of She-Hulk?

Mallory Book also known as “The Face That Never Lost a Case”. is a lawyer who has had an absolutely impressive career and an excellent upward curve. Since she was a child, she excelled in studies. She was also an extremely attractive and beautiful girl. While in college, she won the Ms. Utah pageant. However, she had bigger and better life plans than just being a pretty face. Eventually, she graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University and served as the editor of the BYU Law Review. She-Hulk portrays Mallory Book as the model-looking barracuda lawyer. She was called the face that never lost a case because she had the longest streak of winning cases and destroyed her opposition every time in court. Mallory has a great penchant for all legal matters and has a very intelligent mind.

Mallory was hired by GLK and H after moving to New York. This is where she earned her title to not lose a case. She worked with fellow former bouncer-turned-lawyer Augustus “Pug” Pugliese and Awesome Android, AKA Awesome Andy. However, when Holliway hires Jennifer Walters, it sparks a serious workplace rivalry between the two of them. As seen in Episode 5, she also portrays Todd Phelps on the show. The same guy who went on a date with She-Hulk and turned out to be a pretty creepy fanboy. During her career, she’s fought cases against She-Hulk herself, worked alongside Doctor Strange on the case involving the ghost of Bailey Briggs, and even won a case for Dr. Samuel Sterns aka The Leader. . We will see the Leader as the main villain of Captain America: New World Order. This makes his character even more interesting.

In the comics, she has an intense rivalry with She-Hulk although the show may play her differently. In the comics, Mallory has often gone out of her way to sabotage Jen’s career and manipulate her every step of the way. She used She-Hulk as a go-between to contact other superheroes and gather witnesses, which often made Jen feel less of an advocate. This was pretty obvious when she asked Jen to help her with a case only to get in touch with Ben Grimm aka The Thing from Fantastic Four. She also believed that Jen didn’t have to work for her position at GLK and H like she had to. According to her, Jen made it easy only because she was green and over two meters tall.

It might be slightly similar to the series’ initial approach when Mallory and Jen first met. However, after Mallory and Jen have a drink together and vibe at the bar, it looks like the show could take a completely different direction. Some fans even think Mallory could be a possible love interest for She-Hulk on the show.

On the show, she represents She-Hulk against Titania and her frivolous lawsuit. In the comics too, she has several nasty run-ins with Titania. Having been a colleague of She-Hulk, she found herself on Titania’s radar. When Titania broke into GLK and H’s offices looking for She-Hulk, she badly injured Mallory Book and nearly paralyzed her. It took Mallory months to recover from her injury. Then she blamed She-Hulk for the whole incident
