But who was Yoni?
Yoni, 46, was an ice cream seller in the summer and a musician in the winter. For 28 years he had joined the Pop-Ice company founded in 1976 by his father Marco. “That was all he thought about his work!” He knew his customers by their first names. We were together every day to prepare the trucks and choose the flavor of the Italian ice creams according to the weather. He was the one who managed all the logistics. It won’t be easy without him, I’m devastated,’ confides Marco.
Marco and Yoni shared out the beaches and trips, each with their own truck. Yoni’s little yellow truck left Saint-Jean-de-Monts in the morning and, after a stop at Fromentine, drove towards Noirmoutier, stopping at the hold of Luzeronde, l’Épine, La Clère, le Vieil, la Madeleine and Souzeaux, A. lovely music invariably announced it at the same time on the beach.
