The first injections will be carried out from June 20, if the opinion of the health authorities is favorable.
Babies from 6 months and very young children up to 5 years old will be vaccinated en masse in the United States.
In any case, this is what the White House hopes for, which is awaiting the favorable opinion of the health authorities to deploy the device which is already in the starting blocks.
This is the segment of the population which has not for the time being and moreover, as in many countries, not had access to the vaccination campaign against Covid, as reported by Sciences et Avenir.
Which vaccines?
The two vaccines that will be deployed in the event of a favorable opinion are those produced by Pfizer and Moderna.
The vaccine of Pfizer should be injected into three doses on children of 6 months to 4 years.
That of Moderna on the other hand only includes two doses for children of 6 months to 5 years.
Several committees to validate
On June 15, the American Medicines Agency, the FDA, brought together experts on the subject to validate or not the authorization. If it gives a favorable opinion that day, another committee will meet.
It is that of the Centers for Prevention and Fight against Diseases which will deliver its verdict on June 18.
If this last committee validates, then the deployment of the doses throughout the country can be done and the injections can be administered.
10 million doses planned
The start of vaccination is scheduled for June 20 and to start some 10 million doses are already ready, such as the appropriate equipment, in particular small needles.
The Biden administration has already indicated that more orders are expected to come in very quickly thereafter.
