Kinder and Buitoni scandals: customers still not reimbursed by brands, two months later

Reimbursement procedures following the purchase of a recalled product in connection with the Buitoni and Ferrero scandals sometimes seem to take longer than expected. 60 million consumers collected testimonials.

Salmonella in Kinder chocolates and E.coli bacteria in Buitoni pizzas. The beginning of the year was marked by several food scandals, which represent a severe blow to the image of the brands concerned. This Wednesday, June 15, 60 million consumers reports that more than two months later, customers are still waiting for their refund.

The consumer defense magazine thus evokes silences on the part of customer services, or even an impossibility to reach them for some consumers.

More than two months of waiting

Following the massive recall of the products concerned, whether Kinder chocolates or Fraîch’Up pizzas from Buitoni, compensation was offered to customers in possession of the products not to be consumed. Supporting testimonials, 60 million consumers therefore reports requests, dated for example at the beginning of April, have still not been successful.

On Twitter, following the publication of the article devoted to the question, the testimonies are also accumulating. It seems that some consumers have managed to get reimbursed by going through the supermarket chains where the offending products were purchased, while others also mention the difficulty of getting in touch with customer services.

A very high number of requests

Ferrero, on the other hand, assured 60 million consumers that the cases of non-reimbursement to date were isolated since “more than 95% of requests for compensation” have been processed, assure the brand, which indicates that “each request will be honored” , says Capital.

Delays may be due to the large volume of inquiries received by brands within days of the recall.
