According Grandstand of LyonLaurent Gerra raided the shares of his former associates in several establishments in Lyon.
The comedian now owns 100% of the capital of the restaurants Léon de Lyon, the Chanteclair, Pléthore and Balthazar, the Mamma and the Cave next door, but also of the three Pomponette bakeries.
Laurent Gerra separated from the duo Fabien Chalard-Julien Géliot with whom he had got his hands on several institutions in the agglomeration in recent years.
Fabien Chalard and Julien Géliot have not drawn a line under the restoration since they keep on their side some well-known restaurants such as the Bastide de Collonges-au-mont-d’Or, the Passage, the restaurant of the Museum of Fine Arts Arts and Horseshoe Halles Paul-Bocuse. The Gastronomists have other projects, more focused on hotels and guest houses.
Why such an amicable divorce and above all what future for the establishments now only managed by Laurent Gerra? The different parties have remained discreet, but it seems that the crisis that the restaurant has been going through since the first confinement of Covid-19 has got the better of the enthusiasm and appetite of the former partners.
It’s definitely been a summer of upheaval in the world of Lyon cuisine. A few weeks before the unveiling of the future Cité de la Gastronomie imagined by ecologists, we already learned in July that chef Mathieu Viannay was selling his shares, like Olivier Ginon (GL Events), in the restaurant La Mère Brazier (2 stars) . They were bought by Matthieu Gufflet (EPSA group), one of the biggest French fortunes.
