On the basis of precise information provided by the DGST, yesterday and on October 26, 2022, the special force of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations carried out several operations in various cities and towns in Morocco, which resulted in the arrest of five supporters of Daesh, ready to act against sensitive targets in the country.
The elements of the special force under the DGST initiated the intervention and arrest procedures within the framework of separate operations after targeting the suspects aged between 20 and 45 years in the places where they were active: douar “Habata Benmansour” in the province of Kénitra, Sidi Yahya Zaer , Dchira in Inzegane Aït Melloul, the commune of Bouaboud (Province of Chichaoua) and in the city of Casablanca, states a press release from the BCIJ.
According to the preliminary data from the investigation, each of the suspects had announced his “allegiance” to the terrorist organization Daesh and carried terrorist projects, which consisted in the execution of sabotage of vital services in Morocco, using materials, explosives, or targeting security elements and – institutions within the framework of “individual terrorism” operations.
The investigations and investigations carried out also revealed that among the arrested detainees were some who trained in the manufacture of explosive devices, specifies the BCIJ.
The searches carried out at the home of one of the suspects arrested last night, in Douar Habata Benmansour in Kenitra, led to the seizure of a hunting rifle and ammunition, and the searches carried out at the homes of other detainees, in the early hours this Wednesday 26 October 2022 resulted in the seizure of knives, as well as equipment and digital media, which will be subject to the necessary technical expertise.
The five arrested individuals were placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation carried out by the BCIJ under the supervision of the prosecution in charge of terrorism and extremism cases to shed light on all their plans and projects, terrorists and identify possible interconnections and consequences linking them with terrorist organizations abroad .
The arrest of these accused comes in the wake of the strengthening of the preventive security operations carried out by the services of the DGST with the aim of neutralizing the dangers posed by members of terrorist organizations before they proceed to carry out their sabotage projects, the objective of ensuring the safety of citizens and their property against the risks posed by terrorist cells and people imbued with extremist thought, the BCIJ statement concludes.
