US police on Saturday arrested 31 members of a far-right group planning to attack a gay pride parade in the state of Idaho.
A “little army”
” Police received information from a citizen that a ‘small army’ had gathered in a hotel parking lot Lee White, spokesman for the city of Coeur d’Alene police, said at a press conference. The extremists had all boarded a truck, immobilized a little later by the police. They were all arrested.
” They were there to cause violence in the center of the city added Mr. White. The city, which has a population of 55,000, hosted an event on Saturday evening organized by the local association Pride Alliance, made up of members of the LGBTQ + community.
An operational plan
According to the first discoveries, the group was in possession of a smoke grenade and an operational plan. It was made up of people from different states in the United States. They wore masks, military pants, shields and other gear, police said.
The interested parties were part of the Patriot Front, a small group formed in the wake of neo-Nazi marches organized five years ago in Charlottesville, according to the American organization for the fight against discrimination ADL
During the Charlottesville violence, a woman was killed and several others were injured when a right-wing extremist drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters.
