It’s a bit of an open secret. A large fast food chain could establish itself at La Baratière in Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine).
It is Burger King, a channel that has been around for a few years now. According to our information, the restaurant could take place in the parking lot in front of Roady’s. The land belongs to Immo Musketeers.
Asked about this arrival, the property owner of the Les Mousquetaires group explains that it is still “premature to discuss this subject. The property company does not comment on the projects in progress and not yet signed”.
Same speech at the Burger King brand: “It is unfortunately too early to confirm a location in the city. However, we will keep you informed of the progress of the project as soon as possible. »
However, according to our information, the project is on the right track since it was recently presented to elected officials in Vitré.
Too many offers around the burger?
This possible arrival of the fast food giant has of course reached the ears of traders located nearby, in particular restaurateurs.
“I was told at first it might be next to Basic Fit and then in the parking lot across from Roady,” comments Samuel Ernouxthe manager of Roadside which opens on June 22, a few hundred meters away.
The leader of several companies says he is not worried about the possible arrival of Burger King. “It’s good that they come here. It’s very good for the area. We are in a different market and we work with different products,” continues the manager of Roadside, who will offer burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and coffee shop.
“Not the same line or the same range”
On the side of Vincent Mevel, the boss of Yellow Monkey, located at 1, bis rue du Fougeray, we are more perplexed about the Burger King project. “There was a lack here when we arrived a year ago. But I find it a shame that it is still a burger brand. There was a way to offer something else here”, concedes the manager of the restaurant who offers burgers, bowls, coffees and pastries.
Finally, for the future of his young business, Vincent Mével remains “serene”. “We are not on the same line and the same range as Burger King. We have a loyal clientele with people from the area, salespeople, but also people working in the factories around the ring road. »
Finally, like Samuel Ernoux, he says he is reassured that Burger King plans to set up in La Baratière. “It’s better here than at the other end of town,” concludes Vincent Mével.
Finally, it is rather Yellow Monkey and Roadside which are likely to find themselves in competition.
