Belmont (USA): Mo Donegal takes the Belmont Stakes.

Todd Pletcher’s protege, Mo Donegal (Uncle Mo), who had just finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby (Gr.1) appreciates the longer distance and wins his first Gr. 1 in the Belmont Stakes (Gr.1) , the last stage of the triple crown disputed over 2,400 m. Mounted in thickness by Irad Ortiz, he goes on the attack at the exit of the last turn and immediately takes a decisive advantage, passing the post with 3 lengths in advance on his companion of colors Nest (Curlin) who finishes pleasantly. After leading the event, We The People (Constitution), Rodolphe Brisset’s protege, ridden by Flavien Prat, finds a distance too long for his abilities and has to settle for fourth place. There was never any question of Rich Strike (Keen Ice) the surprise winner of the Kentucky Derby (Gr.1). Mounted in a waiting position, he was never able to get closer and finished in a distant sixth place. Todd Pletcher, who signed the winning pair, won this event for the fourth time.
