As every year, it is in the parking lot of the town hall in Saint-Pierre that the Grand Raid really begins. Before the race on the trails, there is a bib race for the participants. ONE “run in the race”, according to some, which is the opportunity to dive into the atmosphere before D-Day.
A few meters away, it was at Kerveguen that the organizers presented the event. Pierre Maunier, the chairman of the Grand Raid association, took the opportunity to thank the 1500 volunteers and all partners without whom the event would not be possible.
Jean-Pierre Charron, the first president was present in the room. Almost 82 years old, he had to start the race before a physical problem prevented him. It was in tears that he told about the anecdotes “the most beautiful race in the world.”
An edition also possible thanks to ONF’s work. “We had an exceptional year in terms of damage to the trails. The agents managed to get everything fixed in time. The trails are passable, but I can’t promise you that you will find them comfortable”, laughs Bernard Labrosse, the ONF track referee.
