They are suspected of being involved in a case of corruption, influence peddling and corruption. A magistrate and three lawyers from the bars of Paris and Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) were indicted by the Versailles prosecutor’s office (Yvelines), Wednesday May 18, 2022. Information revealed by Point and confirmed at news Hauts-de-Seine by the parquet floor of Versailles.
Five people charged
The facts would have taken place in 2020. The magistrate, who then practiced at the Nanterre court, is indicted for “misappropriation of personal data” and “complicity in influence peddling”.
He is suspected to be intervened with the consulate to which a contract worker from the Nanterre court is attached to obtain an appointment for her more quickly.
The contract mentioned above, also indicted for “passive corruption”, “breach of professional secrecy” and “fraud”. She is suspected of having brought down clients on behalf of three lawyers, for remuneration. The latter are also indicted for “corruption”.
Asked by AFP, the magistrate’s lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, did not wish to comment. However, she indicated that she wanted to “file a nullity request of the indictment in the coming days”.
