what to eat when it’s hot?

The high temperatures are back, and the summer promises to be scorching. During a heat wave, you must take precautions to avoid discomfort. Some foods are recommended, while others should be avoided.

When it’s hot, the body eliminates a lot through perspiration. You can stay hydrated by drinking water, but also by choosing foods that contain it.

Cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers are particularly recommended. The Greek salad is thus ideal for a heat wave meal. Cold soup, easy to digest, is also an ally against high heat.

Fruits and vegetables that have a diuretic effect, that is to say that cause the elimination of water, such as mango, asparagus or even fennel, are however to be avoided. Even if eating a little of it won’t cause fainting.

Carbohydrates taken in too large quantities also cause the body to work excessively. Pastries and sweets are therefore to be avoided. We will fall back on ice creams and sorbets.

While it is already difficult to keep your home cool when the mercury easily exceeds 30°C during the day, you should avoid cooking by using appliances that generate a lot of heat, starting with the oven.

Meat should also be eaten in small quantities. It is useless to absorb too much protein: they are more difficult for the body to absorb and therefore require more energy.

We prefer poultry, which is eaten cold, for example in a homemade Caesar salad with parmesan shavings. Fish is also recommended. It is also eaten cold, even raw. In this case, it is imperative to freeze it at least overnight before making a tartare. This is the best way to get rid of parasitic worms that can make you sick.
